Iced Matcha Latte with Rose Infused Ice Cubes

Who doesn't love a refreshing iced matcha latte, especially in the warmer weather? Iced matcha is one of our favourite summer afternoon treats. We took our traditional iced matcha latte to a new level by including rose-infused ice cubes. Rose water isn't only great for DIY self-care, it's also entirely safe and healthy to consume.

You really don't need much to make your own homemade rose water. It's as simple as having some dried organic (very important) rose petals on hand and a pot to lightly boil them in. You can easily find dried organic rose petals online or in health food stores. You can keep your homemade rose water for up to 1 week in the fridge enclosed in an airtight jar.

What you'll need:

Rose Ice Cubes 2-Ways. Each recipe will fill ~1 standard ice cube tray with 14 cubes, or ~1 large tray with 6 cubes.

Infused Rose Water Cubes:

  • 2 cups Water
  • 2/3 cup Dried Organic Rose Petals

Whole Rose Petal Cubes:

  • 2 cups Water
  • 1/3 cup Dried Organic Rose Petals

Matcha Latte Portion:

Directions:

Infused Rose Water Cubes:

  1. Bring 2 cups water and 2/3 cup dried rose petals to a boil. Cover and let simmer for 8 minutes on medium heat. Once done strain your rose water to remove the petals and let cool.
  2. Fill your ice cube tray with the infused rose water and pop into freezer. 

Whole Rose Petal Cubes:

  1. Fill water about 1/3 way full in your ice cube tray and add in a small amount of dried rose petals. Lightly stir with a spoon to soak the petals in water, although it's normal for them to float back up. Pop into the freezer for an hour or until lightly frozen. 
  2. Repeat the first step two more times. Since rose petals naturally float this will help ensure your cubes are beautifully layered with rose petals throughout!

Matcha Latte Portion:

  1. Add your preferred rose ice cubes into a glass. 
  2. Bring 1/3 cup water to a light boil (175°F/80°C). Pour hot water onto your matcha powder and whisk. 
  3. Pour your whisked matcha and preferred milk over your rose ice cubes and enjoy!
