Creamy Matcha Miso Hummus

The combination of high-quality matcha and white miso deliver a rich and unforgettable umami taste. This matcha-inspired recipe is a great spin on the classic Mediterranean style hummus. It's the perfect addition to include with your healthy snacks, and delivers a powerful punch of nutrients. The white miso and raw coconut vinegar encourage healthy intestinal flora, while the antioxidants from the matcha can help reduce cellular oxidative stress. 

Give this creamy matcha miso hummus a try for your next gathering (or night in)! It takes less than 20 minutes to prepare and will keep in the fridge covered for up to 2 days. 

Tip: We recommend using a high-powered food processor or blender for best results. Also, try to avoid miso pastes with unnecessary ingredients. A good quality white miso paste should include: organic soybeans, organic rice, sea salt and culture (koji). 

Vegan-friendly, Dairy-free, Gluten-free (when using a gluten-free miso paste)

Matcha Miso Hummus Bowl

What you'll need:

  • 2 cups Chickepeas (cooked or canned)
  • 1-2 cloves of Garlic, minced
  • 2-3 Ice Cubes
  • 1/4 cup organic Tahini Paste
  • 1/4 cup high-quality and organic White Miso Paste
  • 1/4 cup fresh squeezed Lemon Juice
  • 1 tbs. Raw Coconut Vinegar (can also sub for apple cider vinegar)
  • 1 tbs. Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • 1/2-1 tbs. Soar Organics Matcha

Steps:

  1. Begin by soaking your cooked or canned chickpeas in hot water for 10 minutes. Remove chickpea skin afterwards for extra smooth hummus.
  2. Add chickpeas and minced garlic to food processor (or blender) and blend until you have a very smooth texture (no chunks). Next, add 2-3 ice cubes and blend, this helps make your hummus extra creamy!
  3. Combine remaining ingredients to your food processor, beginning with the tahini and miso paste.
  4. Blend remaining ingredients until desired consistency is reached. If needed, add ice water by the teaspoon for extra fluffy hummus.
  5. Serve with a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil and sprinkled matcha powder for extra flavour. Enjoy!
